Hobbit-foot-notes

Stray thoughts upon preparing to see The Return of the King a second time:

  • How is it that we can't yet go to our local grocers and buy Lembas Bread™? Made, of course, by Keebler®?
  • One thing wisely omitted from the movie was the controversy that erupted immediately after the War of the Ring when the massive job of rebuilding Gondor was arranged by the king through a lucrative contract with Halliburton.
  • By trimming the fate of Saruman and Wormtongue from the theatrical version, Peter Jackson has given NBC a Christmas gift: its replacement for Friends. Make way for the new hit Thursday sitcom: Enemies! One's a wizard, one's a weasel! One's meticulously clean, one's a scab-picking wretch! They share a spacious, stylish Isengard loft – but can they share gooey, sweeps-sentimental love with the ransacking Ents? It's Uruk-hai-larious! (Followed by all-new episodes of Good Morning, Mordor and Merry & Pippin*.)

* Seriously, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan should get a talk show. Check out the cast commentary on the extended Two Towers DVD. Good Gandalf, they're funny.

Physical Unfitness

I pretty much defined out of shape earlier today. I pulled a muscle in my chest and shoulder by yawning and stretching.
