Yes, Justin Timberlake and his buff new body got my attention in their Rolling Stone shoot (one of Herb Ritts' last, it's sad to say), but now he's gained about 500 whuffie by jamming with the Flaming Lips. In a dolphin suit. (Link via Anil, again)

Not to recruit or anything, but one of the great perks of being gay is that you are freed from societal pressure to give up an inordinate amount of your income to buy clear rocks to appease your loved ones. But maybe it's time we also worked to free hets from the shackles of diamond oppression. Anil Dash leads the charge.

Maybe it's age, or maybe it's that radio and music have been made by marketing to suck so thoroughly, but in the last year, I bought maybe three CDs. I'll probably buy no more than that this year. No, I'm not ripping and burning off the peer-to-peers, which is what the record industry would have you believe because it's easier to blame everything on file-sharing and to lobby its way to invading your privacy than to admit and repair the labels' own failure to step out of their massive vaults and take heed of a changing world. So it's with no sadness that I greet the prediction from Wired that the major labels may not be around much longer.

A joke so nice it got told twice:
U.S. officials continue the search for Osama bin Laden. Reports suggest that bin Laden is most likely somewhere remote and barren, where he will not encounter others. The FBI has begun searching theatres showing the movie Glitter.– Jimmy Fallon, Saturday Night Live, Sept. 29, 2001
Osama bin Laden could attend a showing [of Pinocchio] in Times Square and be confident of remaining hidden.– Elvis Mitchell, The New York Times, Dec. 26, 2002
If you think Bea Arthur was on the original Star Trek, don't bet all your quatloos. Legend has it that she – shudder – played a "drillthrall" on the classically cheesy original Star Trek episode "The Gamesters of Triskelion." Not so, says Bea. If IMDb was ever to blame for this misconception, the correction has been made.
