Tim breaks the bad news that my favorite rasslin' eye candy, Buff Bagwell, has been booted by the WWF. No surprise, really; he hadn't turned up much in the WCW in its latter days. At least before his time ended, I got to see both Buff and O'Dell* on Battle Dome. I ask for so little.

I first fell for the Stuff when he was the bachelor on a spring-break edition of MTV's Singled Out. Beefy, pretty, attitudinal guy flexing shirtless? Yeah, I'll watch. And yes, I own the Buff action figure and tasteless accessory.

The appeal here is of course only physical; I do not necessarily condone Bagwell's real or acted personality, or above all his headgear choices.

Given my belief that the competitive marketing of bottled water* is perhaps the surest sign of the inherent stupidity of the American economic system, imagine my shock and dismay to find Lisa Kudrow hawking a brand with her voice. Oh, Phoebs, no.

I still haven't entirely forgiven Greg Knauss for ending his fantastic little weblog thingy, but it helps that he's dishing out a lot of the lists for McSweeney's, including this instant classic.

* Weird: this is the second time I've wound up 'blogging about bottled water and Michael O'Hearn on the same day.

My friend Jack has birthed his 'blog. But, inexplicably*, he sent the following to me instead of publishing it. Therefore, I shall steal it: a press release about "the world's first gay online casino." "Am I wrong in thinking this is unnecessary and doomed to failure, or am I missing something?" asks Jack, shrewdly titling his e-mail "Because 'separate but equal' was just an idea ahead of its time."

See? He's a born 'blogger. And until he fully realizes this, I'll be here to pick up what falls through his witty fingers.

Slow news day, I guess; the Chronicle (the real one, not the one in the new Sci-Fi Channel series, though it's worth noting that both San Francisco and Sci-Fi are abbreviated SF) ran a longish article on San Francisco's microclimates. Then again, it does support my observation that the fog tends to vanish at Divisadero, a divide I am pleased to now live on the sunny side of.** Those of you who haven't fully experienced the wacky world of Bay Area whether might give this piece a gander; there are helpful maps that go with it.

* Well, actually, he explained when I pointed out the 'blogworthiness of the item that "I didn't think it'd pass muster." Silly boy. Or maybe my muster standards are just low.
** A split infinitive AND an end-of-sentence preposition. Oh, the humanity.
