The Answer Is Not 42

As we muck our way through what philosophers in Minnesota refer to as "this thing called life," we all from time to time ponder the big questions: What is the meaning of life? Is there a God? Why is he or she so pissy? Why are we here, and what's that horrible smell?

But I think we've been overlooking the real big one. Just think how much more productive, more enjoyable, and less annoying your life would be if we could just find the answer to the real Ultimate Question, which hit me today like a sledge hammer wielded by Gallagher:

Why do stupid people make the most noise?

Why do stupid people make the most noise?

Because they don't know any better.

And the most onerous subset of those stupid people, the arrogantly and purposefully ignorant, are proud of their empty heads and their ability to make noise without a care for others.

Yeah, I'm in a peachy mood. Why do you ask?

Maybe a bunch of noise is what smart people sound like to stupid people, "Blah, blah, blah, blah," and "BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAAAAAH," when something is particularly close to our hearts. They're just trying to belong. Or, try this one on for size: maybe they make a lot of noise to distract themselves from thinking, which has to be a real bore, or worse, reading. Like when someone tries to tell you something you don't want to hear, and you stick your fingers in your ears singing, "La, la, la, la, la..." Actually, I have never done that. I HATE when people do that.
