Bausch & Lomb owes me $70. I found out after my eye exam last week that the company quit making the contacts I've been wearing for years, so I had to go back in for a "refitting," which I had to pay for. American health care. Gotta love it.

On the plus side, my new contacts are far thinner and thus even more comfortable. And we took the opportunity to reduce the prescription again. In the past five years, my eyes have actually improved, by two whole contact powers (whatever that means). Age? Bring it.

And no, now that you mention it, I don't want a laser fired at my eye.

A man overheard talking to a beggar on Market Street:

"Sure, I'll give you a little money – and I won't even ask for your body."
